Good Jeans Launches in Washington, DC

Custom Jean Jacket Company Marries Style with Community Support

Washington, D.C. – Smart, sophisticated designs can come right out of your closet and contribute to a good cause – this is the message of Good Jeans, a new custom jean jacket company launching today in Washington, D.C.

The company was created during a closet clean up. Kate Fralin, the founder, was sorting clothes for donation when the idea for restoration came to her. By combining silk scarves that had been gifts from her childhood with never gone out of style jean jackets, Fralin made the jackets look new by lining them with the scarves.

After fashioning one for herself, she began making the personalized accessory for others who wanted a jacket of their own. Each Good Jeans jacket is hand-sewn and because the materials come from the customers, no two are alike.

“I decided to start Good Jeans in the spring of 2008 as a home-based, custom jean jacket company,” explained Kate Fralin. “For so many of us, clothing can evoke strong memories. It’s nice to be able to put a new twist on beloved items and help others at the same time.”

Helping others comes through in the company’s commitment to the efforts of The Breast Cancer Care Foundation (BCCF). On May 17, Good Jeans will support BCCF through a donation of jackets for their inaugural fundraiser held in Washington, DC. Good Jeans supports BCCF and breast cancer patients who may be able to take the scarves off their heads and put them in an old, favorite jeans jacket.

The Arlington, VA based BCCF was founded in 1999 to provide funding to breast cancer patients and at-risk women and men lacking sufficient funds to cover comprehensive breast health services. In addition, BCCF provides financial support to assist with the adverse impact of breast cancer, such as payment of rent, medications, and transportation to treatment.
